Been slacking on updating the blog. But I'm finally getting out of my funk and getting going again. I finished my weight class last week and lost 20 inches and 17 pounds and increased my strength by quite a bit in each muscle group! Yay for seeing the progress! I've still been doing weights at least twice a week and doing cardio at least 2 days a week (often 3 or 4). So I haven't been slacking in my weight loss efforts, just in my blogging efforts!
Monday July 5th,
Weight: 158 (grrr!!)
Exercise: did weights with my hubby. We did triceps... only triceps... for an hour... ouch! I started feeling pretty sore the next afternoon... REALLY sore! I think we are going to do weights Monday and Wednesday and maybe Friday too.
Tuesday July 6th
Weight: 157.8
Exercise: ran on the treadmill for 1 mile completely pain free!! YAY! I went really slow and finished my mile in 11 minutes but I really didn't want to push it. I made myself stop at one mile so I didn't put too much stress on my knee again all at once. Then I got on my bike and rode for 19 minutes so I did a total of 30 minutes of cardio. I peddled fast but kept the resistance low. My bike is kind of weird and I don't think the distance is right because it said that I went 10 miles in that 19 minutes. It also doesn't have the RPM's displayed but instead tells you how many km/hour you are going. I averaged about 33 or 34 km/hour. Don't know how many revolutions per minute that is. But my heart was pumping so I figured it was an okay place to stay the whole time. I did about 20 minutes of abs and 10 minutes of glutes too.
Wednesday July 7th
Weight: 156.5
Exercise: ran on the treadmill for 1.5 miles completely pain free AGAIN!! I picked up the pace a little more today and finished 1.5 miles in 14 1/2 minutes. Not too bad. I'm going to shoot for 2 miles (maybe 2.25) tomorrow and if I'm still pain free I'm going to just go out on Saturday and run as far as I can. I think I'm supposed to be up to 18 miles this Saturday but since I only ran 12 of my 14 mile run and missed my 16 mile the next week and the 10 mile one last week I'm just going to go and play it by ear. We'll see. But I THINK I might be out of the woods now... I'm PRAYING I am, but we'll see. I'm still shocked that I was able to run the past two days without pain, so we'll see! I did abs and glutes today too and we are doing weights tonight again. Feeling good!
ALSO!! I thought I'd share my Mom's yummy cabbage soup recipe that we had growing up sometimes and I've been craving for awhile now! I realized that I really don't get nearly enough vegetables. I have fruit sometimes for breakfast and often for lunch or a snack but I don't usually bust out the veggies until dinner and I usually only have 1 or 2 servings. This soup is packed full of veggies and SUCH a yummy snack or lunch.
1 head of cabbage (chopped)
1 onion (chopped)
2 cans green beans (leave the juices)
2 cans stewed tomatoes (leave the juices)
small bag of baby carrots (chopped)
2 green peppers (chopped)
1 jug of V8 juice
Throw it all in a big pot on the stove and simmer until veggies are soft, salt and pepper to taste. YUM!
