Feelin' Groovy

So I'm feeling a little better. I've talked to several people and come to realize that it's normal to be somewhat depressed and quite frustrated when you are training for an event and get injured. I'm also learning patience, which is something that I could always use a little more of! I also got an exercise bike so that I could work out from home even while I can't run. We found a great deal on KSL and my sweet husband insisted that we get it. I think he just felt bad for making me cry the other night (SO unintentionally, I might add). He knows that it's been so hard for me not to be able to be out there running and I haven't been working out as consistently since I can't always seem to get over to the gym to use the bike or elliptical or swim laps. So it's so nice to have it here now.

Also, I think that my gained 2 pounds may have indeed been MUSCLE mass! I found a muscle on my arm, actually two muscles. I was putting my hair up the other day and looked in the mirror and was shocked when I saw a nice little protrusion where my lack of a bicep used to be! yay! And then that evening while swatting a mosquito off of the back of my arm I noticed that I have also gained a tricep muscle during this class. Hooray for cute little muscles! Lol! They aren't much, and probably don't weigh 2 pounds BUT my legs on the other hand are getting quite solid, if I do say so myself! Yes running has toned my legs up pretty nicely, but biking and working on the elliptical have given me quite the leg definition! So perhaps between my new leg muscles and my tiny arm protrusions I may indeed have an addition 2 pounds hanging around. I've also noticed a difference in my clothes fitting (aka falling off) in the past few days and I got on the scale this morning and am back down to where I was before this whole knee drama started. So that's good. I did 16 miles on the bike on Saturday and have done at least 30 minutes every day since then. I've also done a ton of abs and glutes and even did weights at home for the first time this morning. I even did some curls and tricep extensions while I rode my new exercise bike! I'm feeling good. Still bummed that I can feel a little pain in my knee every once in awhile as I go down the stairs or something, but I'm trying to take care of it and do stretches and exercises to strengthen it. I need to do some more hamstring exercises because I read that if your quads are more than 25% stronger than your hamstrings then it could put more strain on your knees. So anyway. I'm doing what I can!

Thanks for checking in and giving your support! It really does help so much!
