Blasted Knees

Weight: 157.0
(The scale actually said 155.8 at first but I didn't believe it so I tried it again and it said 155.8 again. Still a little unconvinced I got on and it said 157.0. that seemed more realistic so that's what I'm going with. After I drank 20 oz of water and ate some toast with 2 eggs and some ham I got back on the scale just out of curiosity and it said, 157.8. Maybe I might have been closer to 156 but we're still going with 157 for the official weight for the day! Lol!)
Exercise: ran 12 miles...kind of !!
I was scheduled to run 14 miles today and I was really excited because I felt like this was a HUGE milestone for me! It's just over half of the full marathon distance and I think it's a pretty big deal. Well, my knee has been fine this past week with the exception of my fartlek run when I tried to push really hard and go super fast. But my other two runs were PERFECT and I didn't have any pain in my knee at all! I've been icing it and taking ibuprofen just in case and I was sure that I'd be totally fine today. But that was not the case!
I got started and I was a little stiff. My left hamstring has been really sore just from working out at the gym in addition to running. I ran pretty slow for the first half mile and then started to pick it up a little bit. My knee was a little stiff but there was no shooting pains so I kept running. I did notice that I was running a LOT slower than usual, even though I'd planned on running slower since it was a long run and I didn't want to push it too hard. About mile 4 I started feeling some dull pain, but since there was no sharp or shooting pains I just pushed on, and actually prayed that Heavenly Father would help my knee to be strong so that I could make it through this run. I felt good after that for several miles but had to remind myself to go slow and run "soft". I got to mile about 9 1/2 and needed to walk. I walked for about 1/2 mile and then tried to jog again SUPER slow, not so good. I did a modified jog/fast walk and felt fine, I got to mile 11 1/2 and realized that I could either make the loop around Thanksgiving Point or just cut it short and go home and not hurt myself. So I headed home totally deflated. SO BUMMED!!
